Historical Handmade Rugs

Rugs heave been used for interior decor and design since the past 3000years!! The Egyptians and ancient Babylonians used rugs to give their environment a cool and colorful touch. From plain rugs to designed and beautiful ones the story tracks back almost 1000 years when the Mughal Kings in Indian Sub-Continent ordered their designers to design rugs with special effects which could make their environment cool and give them a pleasant feeling! It was after 1,000 AD when the art rug weaving started in Europe, most likely in Spain because of its location in relation to Egypt and Persia as well as Iran where rug weaving was a passion for rich Nowabs (landlords). This passion became more strong in Europe when Eleanor of Castile married Edward I of England in 1255AD and she brought along many classySpanish rugs which probably came from Cordoba or Granada. The three tools shown in the figure are the most unique and antique tools used by looms to manufacture rugs by hand. The top most tool is a hooked knife, the second one is the comb while the third one is a pair of scissors. If you want to learn more about rugs just CLICK HERE.

Brick and Mortar Stores Tighten Return Policies

Many retail store are tightening their return policies because of theft and fraud. Here is a story from CBS News.

LaRocca sees thousands of return fraud cases every year, and many are caught on tape. In one example, a woman tried to return an area rug at a department store. The clerk didn't realize that minutes earlier, security cameras caught her stealing the same rug right off the shelf. The woman disappeared as soon as she got her refund. CBS News

This is costing shoppers at brick and mortar retail stores more money.

"You and I as consumers are paying a little extra at the register, almost a hidden crime tax, to cover those losses committed by people stealing merchandise and taking advantage of retail return policies," LaRocca said. CBS News

Because of the nature of our business this can’t happen to us and you will never pay a “hidden crime tax” for area rugs with us.
