Fall is the time for Rugs - COLOR, COMFORT and PRICE

Now that the kids are back in school and the pool is almost closed, it's time to start looking around your home for those changes you've been meaning to do for the last several months.

COLOR & STYLE CHANGE:
Rugs are a big part of that change. Rugs will change the look of the room before any paint or wallpaper gets near your home and boy, is it faster. Rugs can make a room look darker, brighter, bigger and smaller with just one quick switch of one rug to another. Plus, should you want to make the feel of your room(s) a little different, your best and fastest answer is an area rug. Contemporary rugs give a unique feel for a room - they offer styles and shapes that are not usually seen, definitely preferable if you are trying to update a room. Traditional rugs are great for a more formal feel - they have more distinct browns, burgundies and blacks that will give your room a sophisticated shine.

COMFORT
In another few weeks, you're going to remember why you wanted to change the rugs last year - in many places, such as New York City and Chicago, the temperature starts to drop, quickly and those cold floors are not a pleasant feeling. It's tough to get ready for the holidays when your feet are freezing on the floor. A pad is a great way to help here too - it makes the rug thicker and absorbs heat better, keeping you and your home warmer. A non skid pad is good for keeping the rug from moving, but a premium pad will be warmer and safer.

Now is the time too to switch out thinner rugs for thicker ones - since we are talking about staying warm now. Shag rugs are perfect for this. Thick and soft and warm, shag rugs are ideal for keeping the cold floors away from your slowly-awakening feet.

PRICE
Rugs don't have to be expensive to be good. Brand names such as Momeni, Nourison and Oriental Weavers are great choices for high quality rugs, but you can save even more with brands such as TransOcean or Radici. The best value are often in the Clearance Section  - they are one-of-a-kind items, but they are often marked down very low, like 50% or more, just to sell them off and make space for other items.

Be sure to hunt around for good coupon codes too. Often these codes will take an additional discount off the final price of the rug and padding you might be buying. Some manufacturers aren't very fond of these codes and will deny them before the final sale is made, but they are still worth trying to see if you can get the discount or not.

Rugs are often considered "static" in a room, but they really should be considered a dynamic item. If you change items on your walls, if you like putting in blankets or switching pillows or even consider changing the paint color, then rugs should also be in on your mind. Be sure to remember, the floor is one of the first things that people see when they enter the room.

RugSale.com - Match not - want not

You remember prom? How cute it was to have his cumberbun match your mauve dress? Or her hair match the bandanna on your leg? You know who you are - Ralph Macchio wasn't the only one.

In the decorating world, matching is a sign of shaky confidence in one's decorating abilities. It sends you back to safe harbors where you know that if everything is pink, it will look okay. Guess what - it won't. It will remind your family and friends of prom - and that bad perm too.

The rugs you own should be the foundation of your home (big or small) and not the afterthought. The best possible scenario is to get the rugs first and then the rest of the room can go from there - trying to shoehorn a rug style into a room that doesn't work is often a source for disaster and misery.

Here are some simple suggestions that will help deal with your desire to match your rugs with everything else.

1.) Treat black like a canvass. Do not purchase a solid color rug  - it's the first thing you will notice that collects all the debris and dirt. But if you are looking for a darker tone, you can use a dark or even black tone that is laced with beige or mauve. Black accents often pull character out of the rug and give it a great dimenion. Most modern rugs are designed in this fashion - such as Momeni's Andy Warhol collection or Shaw's Accents collection.

2.) Traditional rugs are your friend. Just because mom owned one doesn't mean you should avoid them - you're a grown up now, make your own choices. Traditionals are great for dining rooms, hallways and even the kitchen. The right rug can change the entire look of the room. Look for burgundy, ivory, and navy rugs from manufacturers such as 828 International or Kas's Cambridge collection.

3.) Braided Rugs are great for the front door, bathroom or sunroom. Places where there is often a lot of sunlight and/or ambient light. They are often pastels and lighter designs, so you can take heart that the rug is naturally that color. Anji Mountian Bamboo rugs have some good examples of this as well as Colonial Mills Seascape collection.

Use these suggestions as a starting point to build your own look. Stay away from the matchey-match of high school and be more open with colors and styles in your home. It's the best way to enjoy home without having to remember high school for another year - and the perm and bandanna too. :)

Choosing a Perfect Eco Friendly Rug

Rugs are the most important part of the interior décor of your room. They are a great way to add personality and color to any room. There are environmental concerns associated with rugs and their creation, as discussed in the previous post, because of these concerns eco-friendly rugs are now available. Here are some tips for you to keep in mind while choosing a perfect eco-friendly rug for your room.

1.Buy rugs which are made from natural fibers. Resource-intensive products such as petroleum by-products should be avoided. The backing should also be made from natural fibers, and environment friendly adhesives.

2.Check out the chemicals with which the rug has been treated. The chemicals which are used to treat rugs to make them stain resistant and more durable also cause environmental damage. The less chemicals the rug is treated with, the more eco-friendly it is.

3.Look for the recycle logo; choose companies which recycle old rugs to manufacture new ones but keeping chemical treatment in consideration. Rugs which are recycled are also helpful for a clean environment.

4.Never compromise with design and décor of your room. Find an eco-friendly rug which fits your room the best, that’s where Rugsale.com comes in with a vast variety of eco-friendly rugs.

Nourison Rugs

When we speak of rugs, the image of an aesthetically soothing fabric creation comes to the mind. In the bygone era, rugs were considered as more of artworks, designed to enhance the beauty of the interiors in a very subtle manner. With the changing times, the art of rug-making underwent a sea of change, but these old-world rugs and carpets still hold an undying fascination for the connoisseurs of art. Nourison Rugs are among the few who afford you this unique opportunity to enhance your home décor with these antique creations.

Having established their presence in the global industry as a niche rug manufacturer, Nourison makes some of the most tempting offers in terms of antique rugs. They boast of an exclusive “16th century” collection of rugs where you will find quite a few splendid creations. Exuding with an old-world charm and a defining beauty, each of these antique rugs is carefully hand-woven by experts in the art to lend a feel of that majestic era in your home.
It was in 16th century that the art of rug-making touched new heights of creativity and if we were to bring the creations alive, it would be much-desired to keep the ingenuity intact. It is with this very intent, that Nourison have used a handpicked selection of authentic 16th century designs for each of the creations. To enhance the effect still more, micro-knitting technique is employed by the artists to come up with not only a piece of art, but a piece of history as it were. So, if you are thinking to adorn your much-beloved home with something which lends it with an artistic personality, you might know where to look.
